I’m using the CP2102 with own VID and PID.

Procedure:

1. I built a new “Virtual COM Port Driver“ with my own VID und PID with the tool CustomUSBDriverWizard.exe (version 5.0.1).
2. I programmed my own VID and PID into my device with the tool CP210xSetIDs (version 2.3.0.0).
When I start the tool CP210xSetIDs again, the device list shows my device with the new VID and PID, but all other fields are empty!
I find my device with the Device Manager with my new driver beneath Connection as UART Bridge at COM3.
Beneath Device Properties the Driver Version (silabser.sys) 6.0.0.0 is shown and for silabenm.sys 1.1.0.0.
The bridge functions faultless!

Why can’t I make settings now with the tool CP210xSetIDs?

A detailed analysis shows that the CP210xManufacturing.dll responds with „CP210x_DEVICE_IO_FAILED“ when calling function „CP210x_Open“.

Is it now not possible anymore to modify the CP2102 EEPROM with CP210xManufacturing.dll?

Is it possible that the tool CP210xSetIDs perhaps has set the flag „Custom Data Look“ although I never has selected it?

Hello Fritz,

Do you use the actual version of CP210xSetIDs - Tool?
You may to download the actual version of the AN144SW Software package.

The actual version of the CP210xManufacturing.dll has the version number: 4.0.0.0
And the CP210xSetIDs.exe has the version number 2.3.0.0

You may update to the actual version of this tool, if you use the 6.x driver...

regards,

Ueli
