I am still using SiLabs IDE v1.9 and its associated Keil A51 C51 & BL51 obtained with C8051F30x-DK. This system has a 4kB code space. What is proceedure to upgrade the IDE, and hopefully the Keil components, and still retain the 4kB code space? Thanks! IP: Logged |

Hi adaniel, I am still using SiLabs IDE v1.9 and its associated Keil A51 C51 & BL51 obtained with C8051F30x-DK. Why do you think that there may be problems when upgrading? Regards, Scotty IP: Logged |

Scotty - Thank you for replying. I can not find a keycode. I have a CD, "Silicon Laboratories IDE and Product Information", but no keycode is stamped on it or its sleeve. I can find no literature with a keycode. I do not remember how the IDE was originally installed several years ago. However, as an effort to understand, I installed the IDE v1.9 using this CD on another computer, there were no problems, and the 4kB code space is active. Perhaps this was the original proceedure; I do not know. So, given this background it is not obvious how to proceed. IP: Logged |

I searched again and found the purchase record that showes the DK was purchased 2-26-07 on eBay with the comment "Brand new in the box, never used, including CD, serial adapter, target board, cables & power supply." I have all the components listed including a plain-white box - but still no keycode. The box is not a re-package; it contains foam packing cut to accept the several components. The SiLabs plastic pockets for the PCB & adapter are still with the box. IP: Logged |

It was 5 or more years ago, SiLabs had sent free update of the Dev CD by user's request. I'm not sure if they still provide this service or not. Ask it to SiLabs support. http://www.silabs.com/support/pages/contacttechnicalsupport.aspx You may need the serial number of the Dev kit for update. It is printed on the label, attached to the side of the Dev kit box. SiLabs IDE update is downloaded from SiLabs Software Downloads page.
